I am Emma Leu (she/they), an interdisciplinary artist born in Romania and based in Amsterdam.
I work across drawing, glass, textiles and installation.
My practice begins with embodied sensing and material experimentation, with forms moving between the page and physical space through processes of translation and reconstruction.
My work often draws on natural ecosystems, not as environments to reproduce, but as models for thinking about relationships, (inter)dependence, and negotiation of boundaries.
Although the forms refer to organic systems, the environments I construct are speculative and deliberately artificial.
Drawing on queer theory and my research into cuddle as a method, I arrange materials as choreographies of relationships.
Rather than illustrating a fixed narrative, my installations invite viewers to navigate the connections between bodies, objects and space through their own movement and perception.
